On the Court: Luzz Cannon Review

We spent three weeks swinging the Luzz Cannon, and it earns the name. This is a budget power paddle with one mission, ending points before they get going. The 16mm core and raw T700 carbon face send the ball off with a loud, hollow pop you hear from the next court. The heavy head plows through contact and asks for a full, committed swing. Luzz lists it near $109, yet it trades blows with paddles that cost double. We ran it through league nights, weekend open play, and a few hot afternoon sessions. If you swing first and ask questions later, the Cannon fits your hand.

Power and Pop

The Cannon hits like its price tag is a typo. Drives leave the face with real pace, and overheads end rallies on contact. The swing weight near 121 plows through the ball and adds easy depth, so we never had to muscle pace out of nothing. Counter-attacks at the kitchen jump off the face, which makes a banger here genuinely scary. Serves picked up free speed, and a few returns pushed opponents onto their heels before the point even started. For around a hundred dollars, this is the most pop we have felt at the price. The trade is plain. All that mass loads the head, and you feel every gram on the swing back.

Spin and Shaping

Spin is the quiet surprise here. The textured raw carbon grabs the ball and lets us shape topspin rollers that dive late and pull opponents off the baseline. Slice serves stayed low and skidded through the whole test window. The grit felt coarse straight out of the wrapper, and it held its bite across three weeks of play. Third-shot drives took spin cleanly, so we could load heavy topspin and trust the ball to drop inside the line. Topspin dinks brushed up and over with margin to spare. For a power-first build at this price, the Cannon spins better than it has any right to, and that is what makes it dangerous on a budget.

Hands and Control

Control is where the Cannon asks for respect, and it does not always get it. The lively face floats dinks the moment you get lazy with the grip. Resets work once you soften your hands and let the core absorb the pace, but the margin is thin and mistakes sail long. Hand battles are the real weak spot. That heavy swing weight feels tip-heavy when speed-ups come fast at the line, and late hands pay the price. A little lead at the throat drops the balance and settles the head down. Build and Value

The core held its pop across our test with no dead spots creeping in, and the raw carbon kept its texture, which matters for spin over time. The build feels honest for the money rather than premium.
